Mrs. Lessen's motto is "if you have a talent or a skill and you can use it to help someone else, do it!".

She is always looking for projects her students can conduct to help others.  During her 15-year tenure as a Family and Consumer Science teacher at Delavan High School, her service projects have included:

• Raising over $6000 for the Susan G. Komen Foundation through the annual Pink-out basketball games.

​​

• Making and donating over 600 stockings to Operation Santa for military families.

​​

• Making and donating infant-sized hospital gowns for third-world countries.
